Jesús no cambió la definición de amor entre el Antiguo y el Nuevo Testamento (ver Mateo 5:17-19). Por lo tanto, la ley de Dios en ambos Testamentos nos enseña la definición de "amor".

El amor, la categoría bíblica, no es simplemente una emoción. Es una evaluación de una acción. En las Escrituras, por ejemplo, "reprender a tu prójimo" es un acto de amor (ver Levítico 19: 17-18). Castigar físicamente a su hijo cuando peca es un acto de amor.
