Stewardship refers generally to the practice of supervising or taking care of something which is owned by another person. In the context of Theonomy, this is applied in parallel with the Christian doctrine that "The earth is the LORD’S, and all it contains, The world, and those who dwell in it." (Psalm 24:1). Our ownership of property is subordinate to God's ownership; we're stewards of God's property. As such, it's our responsibility to utilize and care for God's property in the way that would meet his approval. He's given us specific commands for how to care for his property, and expressed his intentions for the state of his property, and so we should care for it according to his wishes. This topic will discuss the verses which are most relevant to an understanding of God's wishes as they pertain to our interaction with his property, and the property which he has delegated to our ownership. This topic will discuss any laws pertaining to stewardship relationships among people -- for example, if a man leaves his home for business, and hires stewards to care for his belongings, this topic should discuss the responsibilities of those stewards as outlined int he law. Finally, this topic will discuss the relationship between the concept of stewardship as it pertains to our care of God's property, and our care of one another's property.
