Back to Law Analysis overview

11 Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” 12 He said, “Certainly I will be with you. This will be the token to you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.” Exodus 3:11-12WEB

The Command/Principle

This passage contains a positive command, with immediate application, framed as a token of good will (arguably a covenant, or precursor to the Sinai Covenant ), directed toward Moses: "when thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain".

The command is given in answer to Moses's expression of self-doubt, "Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?"

Categories
